Summer 2021 saw our first official year as the Asbury Park Surf Club. Solidifying the partnership we started with KYDS from the year prior we came into the season with specific goals in mind on how to make an impact in our community.

1. We wanted to assemble a group of like minded individuals with a passion for the ocean/surfing who were dedicated to sharing that passion with local youth.

2. Build a curriculum into the KYDS Summer Journey program that would foster growth within the sport of surfing.

3. Our stretch goal was to build an extension program which would be offered to interested attendees of Summer Journey.

We’re so stoked on the amazing people we onboarded to the APSC and all we accomplished this season. Which most importantly, was getting kids with little access to surfing and the ocean, out on surfboard.

Summer 2021 by the numbers

• Official Partnership with KYDS; Conducting 12 Free Surf lessons for Summer Journey participants (40 youth total)

• Onboarded 15 Volunteer Surf Instructors/Members

• Conducted the surf lesson portion for Asbury Park Family Day at the Beach (50+ youth in attendance)

• Launched APSC Extension Program upon conclusion of Summer Journey. Additional 4 weeks of instruction with 20 participants.
